Equitable Community Funding

I will push for Northampton’s fair share of state funding and for equitable city funding that meets the needs of our school district and entire community. Our children thrive when families and residents of all ages receive the supportive services they need.

I will take a holistic and analytical approach to planning that ensures current and future needs of the schools are considered and addressed.

I will work to collaboratively support the utilization of School Councils, tapping into the knowledge, expertise, passions, vision, and resources that uniquely emerge through and around each school.

I will promote the formation of a delegation of school community members and interested residents to visit and hold online meetings with school districts to dialogue about funding and learning challenges, and to discuss best practices.

I will bring my life’s work, experience, expertise, and values to the task of nurturing the potential of each child through compassionate and pragmatic solutions, and the cultivation of a caring and supportive community. I believe there are many residents eager to contribute to the betterment of our schools if offered a positive means to do so.

I will explore ways our school community can build mutually beneficial partnerships with a variety of local and regional institutions, such as Smith College.

I will work closely with state Sen. Jo Comerford and Rep. Lindsay Sabadosa to advance policies that benefit Northampton and our neighbors.

I’ll model decency and civility, because our children are watching.
